Founder of Girl Geek Dinners, a women’s group for new media enthusiasts, Linda Serra has devoted her entire professional life (and more) to women’s empowerment through digital tools. Today she is a member of the US network Women in Technology and CEO of Work Wide Women, a platform that promotes women’s empowerment through technological knowledge.
Work Wide Women has always supported women from different perspectives and in different ways. This year we have supported women through continuous online training, which we offer on our website and made available free of charge during the lockdown period. The aim was to give them the opportunity to acquire and strengthen the digital skills that this year have been crucial for continuing to work at such a difficult time.
For many women, being away from the workplace and working from home has meant once again having to shoulder most of the family commitments and balancing acts: making room for their work, their own family, their partner’s family and, above all, taking on the care of vulnerable people. Above all, this has caused imbalances in terms of women’s role in supporting the family, and it has brought back pay imbalances which, as we know, exist because women have always earned less than men, even for the same job and with the same professional qualifications. When a decision had to be made – as has always happened – about which of the two people in a couple stays at home, it is often the woman, because she earns less.
Together with Camst we are carrying out a very important project that runs on two fronts. On the one hand, we have trained Camst’s senior managers and management team in the dynamics of inclusive leadership, to ensure inclusion within teams and that the talents of 100% of the company’s workforce are fully valued. On the other, we have started a digital self-learning training programme on women’s leadership for the company’s female workforce.
Through a survey designed to gauge how important the gender issue is in the company and how well it is understood, we aim to secure the commitment of managers and senior leaders to making the most of women’s talent.
After all, Camst is a company that has always valued people, and most of Camst’s people are women – or, as we say, “le signore di Camst”, the ladies of Camst.
