Hera Group: from food waste to sustainable mobility
Food waste recovery is a commitment that Camst group has always pursued. Together with the Hera Group, projects have been set up to recover used vegetable oils and organic waste from our refreshment facilities to be transformed into hydrogenated biofuel and biomethane.
Hera is a multi-utility company from Emilia operating in energy and environmental services in more than 250 Italian municipalities with which we have had an active partnership for more than two years.
The common commitment is to initiate circular economy projects, sustainable mobility and implementation of separate waste collection.
Among the various activities carried out is the recovery of exhausted vegetable oils: Camst and Hera have activated a circular, sustainable and SGS-certified supply chain that transforms the exhausted oils produced in 252 of the Group’s kitchens into hydrogenated biofuel.
Regarding the second area of collaboration, the organic waste produced by Camst in the refreshment outlets in the provinces of Bologna and Modena is collected by Hera and transformed into biomethane.
These projects provide savings in tons of oil and C02 emitted. Thanks to the partnership with the Hera Group, then, we can turn food waste into a resource for sustainable mobility, minimizing the impact on the planet.
