Risultato misurato

Every Friday evening, a fixed weekly appointment for inclusion. An average of 40 people per evening.

1 The context

Ensuring real opportunities for socialising and breaking down relational barriers for people with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is one of the central challenges in building a truly accessible community. A lack of safe, structured urban spaces free from overstimulation often limits these young people’s social lives, increasing their vulnerability. Seizing the opportunity to turn everyday places into inclusive settings is essential to respond concretely to these needs.

2 The initiative

Since May 2025, Camst group has opened the doors of its historic self-service restaurant Bass’Otto, at via Ugo Bassi 8 in Bologna, to launch the “Blu Bass’Otto” project. The initiative is part of “Bologna Città Blu”, the programme promoted by the Municipality of Bologna for people with autism spectrum disorder. Every Friday evening, the premises become a protected and welcoming environment where participants can relax, share experiences, play games or watch TV. The constant presence of a professional facilitator ensures that needs are properly mediated and encourages positive interaction between people.

3 The result

With the Blu Bass’Otto project, Camst group strengthens its ESG goals related to social impact, giving value back to the local area through co-design with local institutions and the third sector. The benefit generated translates into improved emotional and relational wellbeing for participants, while also offering families a safe point of reference. The initiative shows how institutional catering can evolve into a tool for community welfare, turning a company asset into a hub of active citizenship and inclusion.
