The supply chain: vendor responsibility and sustainability
Our shared values strengthen the whole chain
Working with the local economy and farms that grow food by sustainable methods, safeguarding consumers’ safety and confidence, promoting safe, decent working conditions, sustaining local value chains, and implementing vendor and procurement process qualification. These are some of the actions that make our supply chain more and more sustainable.
Sustainable supply chain management is an essential pillar of corporate sustainability strategies, since it aims to reduce the environmental impact of the entire production cycle through the careful, responsible management of resources.
Procurement policies
At the Group level, and in particular for Catering, procurement policies follow an approach based on safeguarding the environment, reflected in the choice of organic, fair trade and sustainable fishery (MSC – Marine Stewardship Council certified) products, use of the EPD (Environmental Product Declaration) and the sourcing of food products with denomination of origin and local, short supply chains. Moreover, Camst uses Ecolabel detergents and compostable disposable accessories.
Certified vendors
We have defined specific criteria and methods for qualifying and evaluating the supply chain for inclusion in the list of qualified vendors. As set out in our Code of Ethics and Vendor Code of Conduct, we are committed to ensuring that vendors operate in full compliance with the law and with all relevant safeguards for the environment and human rights.
Almost all the company’s vendors operating in Italy are of Italian origin. This is due to a policy that prefers to purchase directly from producers, to encourage and support the local and regional economy.
