Diversity and inclusion
Inclusion is a great opportunity
We view motivation and engagement as essential factors in promoting inclusion and diversity. To overcome unconscious biases and encourage positive behaviour, in 2023 we ran an in-house communication campaign on the People App focused on all kinds of diversity: cultural and ethnic differences; differences in physical and mental abilities; diversity, equity & inclusion; age and physical characteristics; and gender and sexual orientation.
In the last few years, a period of major changes, the organisation has undergone important changes. Therefore, resistance to change has become a crucial problem, tackled with training and educational programmes.
Identifying the ability to engage with and motivate employees as a key factor, Camst and has developed a series of initiatives to grow a sense of community, empathy and collaboration.
Shortening distances with the App and Ambassadors
The People App was created to meet the need to increase employees’ engagement in the company’s activities and reduce the distances between people and the various managerial levels.
Though digital tools, the organisation is able to dialogue with all its workers, while the People Helpdesk has been reinforced with launch of the “Ambassador project”.
More and more inclusive
Success in change management is also closely dependent on the ability to embrace various levels of diversity. Given the large proportion of women in the workforce, attention was focused on gender diversity, concentrating on women’s potential and offering them opportunities for growth through managerial training to develop their leadership skills, together with mentorship programmes.
Adoption of the ISO 30415 (Human resource management – Diversity and inclusion) guidelines was followed by an initial process of measurement and assessment of policies, procedures and practices, which identified the areas for improvement and the actions to be implemented.
The DE&I (Diversity, Equity and Inclusion) team was founded as part of this process during 2023. As a natural outcome of this evolution the procedure for gender certification (under Italian Presidential Decree 125:2022) was begun; it was successfully concluded in March 2024.
Reaching beyond gender equality
At Camst, DE&I is not restricted only to internal gender equality or cultural differences but also extends to the inclusion of the foreign workers within our company’s population: a diversity that enriches our working environment with new perspectives and skills.
